Wow- you honestly would never know that this was such a problematic make! It looks beautiful! That fabric is so pretty and I can see exactly why you chose to pair it with that pattern. Huge well done for saving it and not getting too frustrated to continue, it was definitely worth it :)ReplyCancel

It makes me so happy to see these photos of you in your finished dress. I was really so sad when I saw that initial picture of the dress on Instagram– first because it’s such a let down to have such terrible fitting issues and second because your fabric is just so lovely. Liberty fabric is like the Holy Grail for those of us who sew! I have two cuts of Liberty in my stash that are waiting for the perfect pattern (and I will make 10 muslins if I have to so that they don’t go to waste! Haha!) I think you did a great job working out the fitting problems. The dress looks great on you! I’m sorry to hear about all of the other life stresses that you have going on, too. I hope you can get the bank situation taken care of quickly! And from what I can see here and on instagram you are doing a great job holding things together with two kids and a husband who is away the majority of the time. I imagine it can’t be easy. Love this post, Meredith. Brought back so many memories. My husband also worked 2 jobs for many, many years, so that I could stay home and be with the kids. Years that were frustrating and challenging, have now produced fond memories and gratitude. Being in the trenches is hard work, but the most important work you will do. Children grow up and life moves on. Sewing was my outlet that kept me sane. You are right, it was something that I could control in my life during that hectic season. This is your season of life and a wonderful season it is. Looking back, you will say “how did I accomplish so much?” You will be in awe of yourself.ReplyCancel

Your finished dress is beautiful! I am very impressed that you knew how to fix it, I would have had no idea. Wow- this quilt is perfect in every way. I love your choice of the gold dotted fabric for sashing the Liberty print. I am a big fan of the quilting cotton “Lifestyle” Liberty prints that came out within the last few years- I am dying to know if they’ll be doing it again anytime soon because the prints were gorgeous and affordable!ReplyCancel

  This is a pattern I just made. I’m happy to tell you all the block dimensions if it helps! The sixteen patch blocks are made up of 16 2.5″ (unfinished) squares that end up at 8.5″ unfinished. The two fabric blocks are made up of a 4.5″ center (unfinished) square 2 2.5×4.5″ (unfinished) strips on either side, and 2 2.5″x8.5″ strips on the top and bottom which also ends up as an 8.5″ unfinished block.
