Meredith, these are just so cute! You’re right; they’ll make wonderful gifts!
these are adorable!
So cute! I really need to make some of these :)
Hi! I just recently found your blog via Jacey and I am loving your projects. I’m new to sewing and trying to find some easy projects to get familiar and gain confidence with my machine! These coasters fit the bill I think. But I was also wondering if you had a tutorial or could point me in the direction of one for the Mildred wristlets that you have on your header. Thanks in advance!
Hi, Rachel! I’m glad you stumbled across my blog! I do hope you’ll try those coasters. They really are a wonderful and quick project that would be perfect for someone new to sewing! The Mildred bags are my own design. I have some extremely similar bags in my shop (actually the ones on my header) and they’re called Penelope bags. I make the Mildred bags for a local shop, but the Penelope bags are virtually identical. Here’s the link to the bag page in my Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/OliviaJaneHand?section_id=7786060 I’m always happy to make custom stuff! :D
Wow! They’re beautiful. Nice presents for the Dutch “Sinterklaasfeest” at december 5.
Thank you! I hope you’ll make some!
Gorgeous! Thank you very much for sharing!

These are just great! I am a total beginner, and I made two sets of these for hostess gifts this year. Everybody loved them, and they were a lot of fun to make!! Thanks for a great tutorial.
I just came across your site doing an image search. These coasters are darling! I can’t wait to make a few for some quick holiday gifts. Thanks for the tutorial!

This week s freebie pattern at Little Scraps of Heaven Designs is a Heart Christmas Tree.
These look so cute, but the instructions seem to assume a lot of prior knowledge. I’m an experienced sewer, but would appreciate more explanation of how to create the block….. scratching my head……
What can I help with? Have you done paper piecing before?
I had trouble too with the piecing. I made my own drawing based on the pattern, but I wasn’t sure about the exact measurements and how to attach the tree trunk and bottom pieces.
If you follow my paper piecing numbering which is on the foundation paper piecing pattern, the trunk and bottom pieces come first and the the tree is made from the bottom up. It’s very simple and quick if you have some experience with paper piecing. If not, it’s pretty quick to learn! If you need more of an explanation on how foundation paper piecing works, you can see my guide here: https://oliviajanehandcrafted.com/paper-piecing-tutorial-free-pattern/
As always, if you have further questions I’m happy to help to the best of my ability. The person you responded to never reached out with any specific question, so unfortunately I was not able to do much.
Love these! Thank you so much!
Thank you for this lovely project and pattern!
