I was asked to make a quilt for the new baby of a long time client after she saw the gorgeous Amalfi collection in the quilt Layla is making. I jumped at the chance not only because I just adore this range of fabrics, but its also becoming difficult to find already! I spent the weekend making flying geese blocks and trimming them, and I assembled the top this morning.
Isn’t this collection so beautiful?
I love that Anna Bond used light pastels with deep, rich blues and greens and saturated reds. Its really quite eye catching.
My client loved the way the fabrics played all together, so that was my idea when I arranged these fabrics in a rather random way. Truly, a well thought out collection is widely cohesive across the range. I love that about all of Anna Bond’s fabrics and designs.
I don’t normally post about quilt tops, but this one is just too pretty not to share. I’ll do another post when its all quilted and bound. I’ll be hand quilting it, so it’ll have the most scrumptious texture when it’s finished!
On another note, did you catch Layla’s Facebook LIVE about her Amalfi quilt for her bed? You can watch it at the Olivia Jane Handcrafted Facebook page. Its pretty adorable, but if you are more of a reader, you can see the post HERE. I will be the first to tell you, that as our first LIVE video it was more chaotic than I would have liked. I will be getting someone to watch my little guys for the next one so we can at least do without the firetruck sounds and all the “mom, mom, mommy!” ha!
I hope you have wonderful Independence Day tomorrow!
