Happy Easter! Today I have a very exciting update for you. I finished the Spinning Stars Quilt top! Woot!
My mom, Layla, and I rode out to Boca Grande yesterday to take some pictures of it before I head into the handquilting phase. I’m super happy to be finished with the piecing. There was quite alot of that!
I chose to use that red shade of voile I had initially as the primary solid in the quilt. I actually really regret that because the maroon voile AMH sent looks so much better. I suppose to set off the bright red, I’ll just use the maroon in some pillows. For sure though, the maroon and mustard shade blocks are my very favorites!
I scattered the mustard, maroon, and orange solids throughout the quilt, giving it somewhat of a random look.
Also, I chose to keep the stars in a single color, rather than mixing two colors like I did for Layla’s quilt. With this particular quilt, keeping brown with brown and purple with purple really looked best.
I’m so in love with this quilt! Its going to be on my bed for a very long time, and I hope this is one of the ones my kids will fight over – because I think its that awesome!
I’ll be sure to take more pictures of the handquilting process and the finished quilt. I hope to have it completed sometime in May, but my fingers are crossed for getting it done before then.
Enjoy the remainder of your day, and I’ll be back with some bags to show you!
