Stash Additions

I was on a fabric buying hiatus for 5 months. That’ll do things to you. Especially when a zillion awesome things come out during that time. I’ve done what anyone would do, and have used my January to make up for lost time.

I’ve gotten lots of Liberty additions from Alice Caroline Supply and Jones and Vandermeer. Both are incredible shops!!!

The animal print in the back, Queue for the Zoo in the purple colorway has already been used as backing for this quilt. The same print in the blue colorway, along with the blue car print are reserved for my little man. The other three prints on the top row are destined to become dresses for Layla (at her request, since she sits it on much of my online shopping pointing out what she likes and what she would like to be made for her.) The second row is dedicated to some Boston (or other breed) pillows that you’ll be seeing in the near future. And the bottom row are some fat quarters to add to the stash.

Once the Liberty bug bites, fighting any urge to collect the stuff is really in vain. Its all so pretty!

My mom put an Amazon gift card in my stocking, and I put it to good use.

I purchased an antique settee a few years ago with the intention of reupholstering it once I found the perfect fabric. Its taken a long time to find just the right print, but I finally have. And since that print costs a great deal more than I could have ever dreamed, I figured I should be thoroughly educated on upholstery. After reading lots of reviews, I purchased Spruce: A Step-By-Step Guide to Upholstery. I’m so glad I did, because I’ve already done a good bit of reading, and it is extremely thorough. And I’m going to have to buy tools and really work up the gumption to begin this project. If you see the finished couch before 2015, I will consider it a raving success. And I will expect the entire world to drool over how great it is.

Last but not least, I’ve added some Wee Wander prints by Sarah Jane to my stash for my little horse lover. The line is fantastic. The horse prints are the epitome of precious, and I know Layla will go gaga over the dresses and messenger bag I plan to turn these into. More birthday sewing!
