Today’s post is all about the Bubble Dress and Liberty. Such a glorious combination! One of the first dresses I made for Layla was the Bubble Dress. I loved it so much, and she got a ton of wear out of it.
She recently saw this 2014 Liberty print from Jones and Vandermeer, and obsessed over it. (I was secretly very proud!) I didn’t give her enough credit, assuming she would forget about it. She didn’t. So I got some more and made her a new Bubble Dress in 4T.
I love how bright and girly this dress is. I think the fabric works really well with the pattern. Can you ever go wrong using Liberty? I don’t think so.
One of my favorite things about the Bubble Dress is that it is fully lined, and there are zero exposed seams. Of course you know that means I’ve used my trusty Free Spirit solid voile to line! And I know I’ve told you this before, but there is no better pairing than Liberty and Free Spirit voile. I wouldn’t line with anything else!
Layla is a big fan of her newest dress. And she’s happy that I finally used her favorite fabric.
I’ve been loving making new clothes for Layla. She’s growing up, and its fun to use patterns that she’s worn before and transform them into a totally new garment. Its helps to pay for the patterns, but it also is so great for creative thinking. There are endless possibilities!
Tomorrow I get to show you some of my wardrobe expansion. I’m growing too, just not up, so to incorporate this belly I’ve had to make some more clothes for myself. And I get Liberty too! Can’t wait to show you.

Perfection. How difficult is that to sew? I think I have the pattern and need to make a dress for April
I would definitely say this is one of the easiest Oliver + S patterns I’ve sewn. Its just a bodice and skirt, so you don’t have to worry about putting in sleeves. The Bubble Dress is one of the first dresses I made for Layla, and I kept going after that, so I think its a great pattern. You should give it a try!
