I decided to go with the second layout for the giant star quilt. I think it is clean and simple, a design that coordinates well with the fabric.
It;s a good size quilt at 68″ square.
Maman is a beautiful line. It is all organic cotton and it was interesting to work with. In the way that it sews it is similar to voile, I think because it has a tighter, finer weave than traditional cotton. But though it is very soft, it’s certainly not voile.
I’m looking forward to quilting this beauty. I’ll probably use light colored Perle 8’s so as not to overwhelm this softly colored fabric. Working with this color palette was certainly something different for me. I typically prefer to work with very colorful, saturated fabrics like those from the master of color, Anna Maria Horner. And though it was different for me, I enjoyed it very much because this line is just so beautiful. Its dainty and feminine and I think it will be perfect for any little girl.
I’ll be posting pictures of my quilting progress, I’m sure. Enjoy your day!

Love it! How are you going to quilt this one. I struggled and struggled on how to do mine and finally just jumped in. I love it now!
I’m not positive how I’ll quilt it yet, but my typical style is to complement whatever the overall design of the quilt it. So I’ll probably outline the star and quilt inside it, similar to how you quilted yours. I’m excited to get started on it!
