Thinking out loud

I’m sewing on lots of patches today.

I was approached by a lady at church about sewing all these Pop Warner patches onto some cheerleading uniforms. At first, I wasn’t sure if I’d be up to it, but I found that it was easier than I thought it would be. My apprehension was mainly due to the fact that I went to a private school where we had to pay for uniforms, so I knew these cost a fortune, and I didn’t want to be the one responsible for messing them up. I think I’ve got it down, though, so hopefully I won’t have anyone mad at me.

Once I finish that assignment, I’m rewarding myself. I’m trying to get prepared for the Christmas season really early, and I think a flannel quilt would be appropriate for Layla’s room. Not only will she need it just because of the season, but her room is by far the coldest room in the house. It is insanely cold in there. Its not going to be a super heavy quilt, however. I mean, we do live in Southwest Florida and the coldest I expect it to get is maybe to the 30s for two nights.

So basically what is happening is that I’m looking for an excuse to use my stash of Folksy Flannels, and “winter” seems like a valid one. The only thing I’m wondering now is, should I make it a crib size, or do I make it full size? She has a convertible crib, and because we are those kind of parents, she is still in the crib. She had a load of room in there and has never attempted to climb out. We probably should atleast replace the crib rail with the toddler bed rails, but then she can get in and out whenever she wants. Anyway, I don’t foresee us converting her crib to the full size anytime soon, simply because we live in a small house and she is two and what two year old could possible need a full size bed?

I’m getting a little ramble-y now. And I think its because I’ve already answered my own question. It would be a little crazy to make her a full size quilt, even though she would always be able to use it. She just can’t use it now. So I suppose I’ll be working on a generously sized crib quilt for now!

I promise a more organized post next time. I’m not entirely with it at the moment!
