Several years ago, when I was pregnant with Layla the sewing bug bit me. Hard. I got out my sewing machine and, well, I haven’t stopped since. Its been a daily part of my life. Those pregnancy hormones really induce a serious crafty nesting mentality in me. This pregnancy gave me pause on that front...
Oh, pregnancy induced crafting. That’s how I took up quilting and promised to knit my husband a sweater.
Welcome to the rabbit hole of knitting. Have you found Ravelry yet?
People keep telling me about Ravelry. I’m a little intimidated but I just need to get over there and join in on all the fun I’m told I’m missing! And crafty things are one of the awesome hormonal side effects. Lol.
Even if you don’t dive into the forums, the database of patterns and yarns is completely amazing! Though the forums are nice to read during pregnancy and newborn insomnia. There is a group for all kinds of interests!
Oh man. I managed to stay away from all the yarn so far but I might have to dig through what I have and see if I can make a hat (or three) ! Because unlike you, we DO have a winter in Québec and the little one coming in January might actually need one :)
They are both gorgeous and I especially love the colors on the one you made for you! So bright and happy :)
Thank you! I do wish we had legitimate seasons here. I hope we will get to wear these at least a few times. Congratulations on your new addition!
fantastic! knitting hats is one of my favorite crafts. i used that same yarn and pattern from purl soho last year for hats for almost all my family members. they are so cozy!
(i am a tight knitter, too. remember to swatch for gauge – it’s not fun, but it will save time in the end.)
I never thought of going outside the pattern and testing! I remember all your gorgeous hats. They were so colorful!
Hi Meredith! Isn’t it fun? Now you need room for a yarn stash ; )
Your hats look great. Looks like you’re a natural knitter. Your children will all benefit.
The chunky blanket I made yesterday and posted on IG only took two hours
Two hours?! Wow! I am so excited about this new craft.
