A few weeks ago, Layla asked me if I would make a quilt so we could go on picnics. That seemed like a perfectly reasonable excuse to stock up on Anna Maria’s Field Study linen, which I did, because, hey, why not? After seeing KelbySews quilt, I was inspired to go with a simple patchwork...

You have been busy! Looks great.
I always alternate pressing my seams when sewing my rows together. Makes it so easy to machine quilt.
You are one brave lady to hand quilt a picnic throw!
As always, your quilt is amazingly beautiful! The photos of Laya are the cherry on the sundae! Luv ya!
Love Layla’s photos. (brain thinks faster than I type!)
An absolute fabulous quilt! So pretty and with embroidery to boot!
Your quilt is beautiful! When you hand quilt, do you start in the center? Or any special format? I really like the pattern.
Hi! Absolutely love this quilt! I too am planning a picnic quilt, and I was wondering, with the weight of the linen, if you used batting in the quilt? I’ve seen a few with and without batting. Thanks!
Hi there! I did use batting. Its a heavier weight, and I think its perfect for picnicking. Also, the weight helped it to stay down on a windy day, which was great!
Such a pretty quilt! I will have to try pressing seams like that on my next quilt. I’ve always opened them flat.
Thanks for the tip about the pearl cotton. I love to embroider and the embroidery you have completed looks great. Those bright colors match with the linen.
This is such an utterly gorgeous quilt! I absolutely adore the backing – the print is wonderful. I hope I can get my hands on some soon!
This quilt is beautiful! We always us this old moth-eaten blanket to lay in the grass on and play with the dogs. I think I’ll be making something new for this purpose!!

PS. Layla is just adorable!! I miss that age.
