Alison Glass is revamping her quilt patterns and doing a series of mini patterns this January. They were unveiled at Market in Houston this past weekend, and I’m excited to show you two new versions of Opposites Attract and Shift!
I made a 20″ square version of Opposites Attract with a mix of Handcrafted prints in the foreground and a single cheater print from her new collection, Abacus, in the background. The colors are graduated from the top right to the bottom left, similar to my throw size in my debut pattern.
Its hand quilted with hundreds of little hand stitches in a spectrum of colors. Each line is about 3/4″ apart.
Shift got a bit of a makeover in this little version! In the original pattern, the shifting x’s take the stage and float on a black chambray background. In this version, I wanted to show that you can really spice up the background and use more muted or monotone colors for the x’s for a totally new look! This 20″ square quilt features a very favorite print from Ex Libris in the background and an assortment of Handcrafted Indigo for the x’s.
What do you think?
This version also got some hand quilting. I stitched around the inside of each x in various shades of blue.
I know that all of us who collaborated with Alison on this project are very excited for you to start making minis once January rolls around. As we approach that date, Alison will be sharing more details, and I know you will want to join us! Its exactly what you need if you like to participate in mini quilt swaps.
Also, Indigo and Abacus are freshly released collections that are available this week and they are gorgeous!
Have a beautiful Fall weekend!
