I’m all finished with Abigail’s quilt. I made it for her fifteenth birthday. I was only 4 days late! Abigail is super on top of birthdays, and always remembers the special days in the lives of other, so it was pretty awful for me to not have the quilt entirely complete by the 9th.
As I mentioned before as I was progressing along in this project, I attached the top and batting together and did some embroidery on the quilt prior to adding the backing. This quilt is hand quilted. And just to throw a corkscrew into things, I quilted with Perle 8s instead of 5s. I chose to switch it up because I thought the voile could handle a smaller knot better than the large knot made with size 5. And though I’m still partial to size 5, this was a nice change for me.
I’ll leave you with some pictures that Emilee, my other sister, took of Abigail and her new quilt.
Have a fun weekend!

Your hand quilting never ceases to blow me away. Teach me your ways!! :)
I’m definitely thinking about doing a series on handquilting. Its one of those things that people find very intimidating, but I think once they’ve tried it and learn the necessary skills, its a very therapeutic and beautiful way to quilt.
Thank you for your encouraging words!
Can you say what pattern this is? It is gorgeous! Beautiful quilting.
Thank you! This is one I sketched up and just made based off my sketch.
