Are you a creature of habit? I sure am. I’m the girl that orders the same meal at Panera every time for 10 years. I go to the same restaurant on every date (which happens to take place only on my birthday and anniversary for the most part). I use fabric from the same companies as a general rule. I watch the same show night after night, and when I finish the series, I start it over again (the Office). All this because I find something I like and I don’t feel a need to try other things. I think that says a lot about the things and places I like, but at the same time it probably tells you just how plain and boring I am. 

My habitual tendency certainly applies to my love of Oliver + S patterns, but more specifically their Sketchbook Shirt pattern which I’ve made about twenty times or so now. You may be sick of seeing them. But I hope you can draw from all these posts just how stellar the pattern is. Definitely one to keep on hand! I made a batch of them assembly line style this past week, two for Wallace (plus one that just needed hemming!) and two for my good friend’s son.  

 The two for my friend’s son are a size 5. The first was made with pattern view B, which has a banded collar and short sleeves. He chose this super cute flamingo fabric from Jones and Vandermeer. It’s double gauze, and it’s going to be so perfect for hot summer days.  

 The gauze was very easy to work with, and I love how crisp it looks with very little pressing. And seriously, aren’t the flamingos awesome? They’re such stinky animals, but they are very beautiful. I love seeing them on the fabric!  

   The next shirt I made for him uses Hiding, which is a new Liberty print that’s a part of their Garden of Dreams collection. That little man has some great taste!  

   This shirt uses the standard collar from view A, plus a breast pocket. This lightweight lawn will be equally perfect for summer days!  

     Wallace is sporting a print from Cotton + Steel’s collaborative Bluebird collection. It’s a quilt weight cotton with natural blemishes on the fabric. I can’t help but chuckle that the fabric come pre stained. No doubt Wallace will add to it.  

     I used red thread for top stitching. I love the contrast! 

 My favorite part of this shirt is the inside yoke. I cut the bottom along the selvage so I could showcase the artwork. Cotton + Steel always has such awesome selveges.  

 Last but not least is this awesome gingham version made with this print from Anna Maria’s Loominous yarn dyed collection.  

 I think this shirt has a very classic appeal and can easily be dressed up or down. I know it will get a ton of wear because button downs are Wallace’s favorite! That boy loves to dress up.
