I’ve done very little fabric shopping lately, but I do have to show you the few things I couldn’t live without. First up are those stunning Liberty fabrics from Jones and Vandermeer I told you I needed a few weeks ago.
( ^ the two bottom ones ^ )
I can’t wait to make dresses with these prints!!! Emily sent along that soft pink print on the top (Kitty Grace) which is actually a poplin rather than lawn. I’ve wanted to try it out for the longest time, but for whatever reason, I never got any. I’m thrilled with the way it feels and the weight of it (which is heavier than lawn), and I think its going to make something absolutely lovely!
This print is absolutely and completely stunning. I mean, I loved it online, but nothing compares to what it looks like in person.
These beautiful flowers are actually meant for someone else, but I have so loved working with them this week. They are so large scale and gorgeous, and I feel as though I’ve been making something with another person’s work of art. Its truly one of the most incredible Liberty fabrics I’ve ever seen.
Last up in my stashing are these beautiful Juliana Horner fabrics. How did these happen? Oh, you know. I went in to get a zipper for the Lua Sleepsack, and I came out with these. Oops. Its good they only had five of the prints in stock, or I would have surely come out with the whole line…which I now need to get.
They are gorgeous, aren’t they? I had to get three yards of that stunning blue print on the bottom. A girl can’t have too many dresses!
I’m excited to show you some brand new things I’ve been working on next week. Have a great weekend!

Meredith, when you buy fabric for your stash, without any project in mind, how many yards do you typically buy?
I generally don’t buy any fabric without having a purpose. I stash two different ways: either I am buying a collection (pretty much only Anna Maria, but there are some other designers I’ll do this with as well), and I’ll get either half or full yard cuts of every fabric in the line (these are the fabrics that will “last” a while), OR I’ll stash for garment sewing in which case I’ll buy about a yard and a half of 54″ fabric or closer to three yards for 44″ fabric (these fabrics generally get used up within a week of receiving them). Rarely I’ll stash some backing fabrics, because I normally wait to buy the fabric that I think will go best with whatever quilt it is. If I know for sure that I’m stashing for a bed quilt for me, and only if I already have the top planned out, I’ll do six yards, but for any other backing I’ll generally get between two and four yards. Hope that helps!
Thank you so much! So interesting to hear how others do it. I just love everything you make!
Also, all of this fabric is totally awesome. The Liberty florals are to die for.
They are all amazing and I’m sure you are itching to use them! Do you know the name of the large scale floral? Thinking it would be perfect for pillows…it’s so different and gorgeous!
I went back to the site I ordered the fabric from to see what the name of it was, and they must have sold out because I can’t find it! I’m sorry! If I come across it again, I’ll email you the name of the fabric with a link.
Ok, thanks!
