Progression

Despite caring for my sick husband and chasing around my very active daughter, I have actually managed to make some progress on Layla’s penguin backpack that I’ll be giving her for her birthday. Here’s a shot I took earlier today:

This is only the front of the backpack, but I have done more work on this project since the picture was taken. Right now I’m almost finished with the outside of the bag, but I do need to purchase some nice strap adjusters before I can sew it up.

I’m so happy with how this bag is coming together. I totally understand why people go on and on about Oliver + S patterns. Leisl Gibson writes her patterns in such an easy-to-understand language that it is nearly impossible to make a mistake. I absolutely love the bag thus far, and I can’t wait to get the interior assembled and receive the strap adjusters so I can finish this backpack! If you would like to make this backpack [or a host of other great kid’s projects], you can find this book to the right on my Amazon favorites list.

I do hope this post finds you having a wonderfully creative day!
