I got more accomplished during Layla’s nap yesterday than I did the whole week, business-wise anyway. I whipped this baby up in just a few hours and its all ready for some backing, quilting, and binding.
Its really deplorable how little I accomplished last week, but for some reason, I just didn’t feel like sitting down to my sewing machine. I did receive the fabric for my Bee blocks for June, and I started on them on Saturday. I had to take a break after the first one, though, because the fabric shrunk an insane amount after being ironed. I was a little frustrated, but atleast I know now to account for that for the other block(s). I think I will make her a few more blocks if I can, because that way if she dislikes one, she has more to choose from.
Anyway… I spent my second Mother’s Day with my wonderful Mama and and Daddy and my sisters. Unfortunately, Justin had to work :( . My mom wanted to go see the sunset at the beach. So off we went on Layla’s very first trip to the beach. She was in heaven. She loved loved loved the beach. It was her humongus sandy play ground. She ate sand, charged into the water (not all the way- I’m not that terrible of a mother), and tried eating the shells. She thought that was hilarious- seeing all of us gasp and say, “Ahh, Layla! Open your mouth…Show us your teeth. Just spit that out!” After we got back to the car, all the sand came up on me and Papa. Atleast she didn’t have to digest it, I guess.
What did you do for your Mother’s Day? If you are not a mom, what did you do for your mom or a mother you know?
Oh, and I can’t forget! I spiced up my horribly ugly and unispiring “studio” aka, “the random other room in our house where everything goes that doesn’t have a place,” with some unfinished quilts. I guess this way I’ll have some inspiration for other quilts and projects, and I’ll be more motivated to finish the quilts since they’ll be in plain sight. Plus, I’ll get to redecorate often enough! What do you think? I had to cover up some of that nasty pink wall.
Enjoy your Monday!
