Despite their name and the way mine turned out, I promise I was not under the influence of anything other than sweet tea when I made these Drunkard’s Path potholders. I’m really not impressed with either of them, but these were my first two attempts. I do think I got better as I went along, and hopefully I will continue to improve this precise curve skillset as I continue to make these potholders throughout the week. I don’t have materials for any of the rest of this week’s projects, so I will be practicing plenty on these little suckers.
First up, I have the potholder I made in Aviary 2. Like I said, I wasn’t too impressed with the first run, as my curves puckered a little and my seams didn’t all meet up.
My second attempt turned out much better. I got the hang of sewing, pausing, adjusting, and sewing, and I felt it came together much more smoothly.
I think the quilting helped to hide the flaws. I did machine quilt these (tisk tisk), but I did feel that it was both necessary and justified in this instance simply because I was sewing through three layers of batting.
I haven’t bound these, but I always need some sort of handsewing to do while watching a movie with Justin at night, so that is what I’ll be doing later. I’m sure I’ll have more to show you a little later this week. I’ve got to go finish up dinner now! Here’s a look at my little helper wearing Daddy’s hairnet from work.
