Sleeveless Liberty Bruyere

Hello there, and happy Thursday! I want to show you one of the garments I’ve made recently that I finally got some pictures of. Thank you, husband!

I received some very generous and thoughtful gifts of Liberty for Christmas. I knew I wanted to make myself some clothes and set out to do it right away. Of course at that time I was still very pregnant and trying to guess how things would fit post partum. I think my guesstimates were close, but certainly not right on. I didn’t think my chest would expand, but I was very wrong unfortunately. Oh, well!

Anyway, I actually had this top cut and sewn in a four hour block, minus the buttons and buttonholes. But once I realized it wouldn’t fit my bust, I just left it hanging up, rather discouraged that I couldn’t wear it ALL the time.

But let’s back up because you may want some details. The pattern for this shirt is the Bruyere from Deer and Doe. I made a dress version in corduroy last year. The pattern is phenomenal. It’s super easy to understand and just as simple to assemble the garment. The pattern comes in both French and English, and is a great price to boot. I definitely recommend it!

The fabric is from Liberty’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection and is called Weather Wonderland. It came from Jones and Vandermeer who has a fabulously curated selection of Liberty and other fine fabrics. I’m so drawn to Liberty’s quirky and conversational prints, and the detail in this one is amazing!

So as I mentioned, sewing this top up was a cinch until I got to the buttons, but only because I had grown and the fit isn’t perfect. I love it so much, however, that I’m willing to wait a few months to wear it. It’s time for me to get back to exercising and turn a blind eye to the Mint Chocolate Chip Blue Bell.
